Why did you enter the awards?

Having read about the awards and receiving my nomination I had a fire ignited in me. I realised the application process was detailed and this on top of running my company, with a team of people and also as a parent I wanted to make sure I was able to dedicate my time to the process. The awards process gave me an opportunity to go back 17 years ago, where it all started and where we are today.

How did you hear about the awards?

In 2022 I was nominated for New Business and Small Business of the Year awards in Warrington. As a result of these and an increased presence on LinkedIn I became aware of the EVAs and out of the blue I received an anonymous nomination.

Have you entered any other awards?

Since the EVAs people started to recognise my achievements and I got nominated for other awards as well. We were awarded the She Inspires award in the health and medicine category. I was nominated for business women of the year in high growth and impact category and won that award. This was a global award with  41 countries from four continents. It was amazing feeling, I got to meet mayors and NHS CEOs and all these big people.

What did it mean to win an award at the EVAs?

Sometimes when we only just drive forward and do not take that break, we can lose part of the essence of the journey. The EVAs awards gave me a meaning to my life. The process actually made me a better person because all I was doing is moving forward. I was not reflecting back. I enjoyed going through my journey. And I say, you know what, I have achieved this. Now scale up, and that’s this next year.

I say winning EVAs awards in 2023, gave wings to my journey. I learned to fly. I love that, you know, and when I learned to fly, I was flying higher.

Once you become award winner, it was like I was a celebrity, who doesn’t want that feeling. Everyone wants a piece of that spotlight. They made me a celebrity in no time.

The award gave validation to the work we do. Winning awards means you suddenly became an award winning consultancy. As a team we are award winning business and this gives the team confidence to stay with the business. After winning the award people approach you, congratulate you and  it opened the door for more conversations.

Winning the award means that I got free marketing and I’m a businesswoman. I love anything free if it’s beneficial for me. I accepted that with open heart.

I think another positive thing I felt about EVAs is that they welcome everyone with open arms. What matters is your journey and who you are, not your race, not which language you speak. It’s who you are and how you work and how you can inspire others with your journey.

When I combine those things, that’s how I sum up the EVAs. They are a very supportive team. A team which guides you and gives you courage and confidence. A team who do not judge you, they see the work do you, could it inspire others and who you are as a person.

Why did you sponsor the EVAs?

The EVAs is the only awards I have sponsored. I did it to give that little contribution to someone, so that they can go forward and do something like you have done. That was my only motivation to be a sponsor. I knew I would love to sponsor someone, because I know the journey, I know how it feels to have a new business and to reach that stage where you are kind of known now.

“When you hang around with the right people, inspiring people, you think like them and you learn from them. So you know when you learn from your mistakes, you’re wise. But when you learn from someone else’s mistake, you’re wiser…”
