Business Finance North West provides business loans on a not-for-profit social enterprise basis. We’re a community development finance institution (CDFI). That means we have a specialist mandate to look at the impact our loans make on communities. Funding women-led businesses is a key part of that mission.
In our first year, we invested over £575,000 into organisations founded and managed by women in the North West.
Our work represents real, tangible change, rewarding ambition, bringing opportunities back to some of the UK’s most economically underserved areas.

Business Finance North West is part of Business Enterprise Fund (BEF) Group. This family of CDFIs invested £6.3 million into women-led businesses across the UK last year alone.
Together, we’re proactively working to raise the profile of the UK’s most inspirational businesswomen. Through case studies, community outreach, and sponsoring events like the EVAs, BEF Group showcases British female business at its best.

Simon Truby, Regional Director
Simon Truby has a dedicated commercial finance background stretching 25+ years. He’s worked for a Who’s Who of major institutions like Lloyds, Yorkshire Bank, and the Bank of Scotland. This gives him enormous insight into the day-to-day pressures facing women in business all over the UK. Now, as Regional Director of Business Finance North West, Simon is putting all that experience to good use. He’s connected countless female founders across the region with the finance they need to grow faster and stay resilient.
